Description
SNMP card for UPS - extension for Armac uninterruptible power supplies
The SNMP network card is a communication accessory that extends the capabilities of compatible Armac-Energy UPSs with full management and real-time monitoring from any location, via a web browser and SNMP manager. Integrated web access allows users to schedule UPS shutdowns, startups, and restarts, view basic battery status, and key parameters—all without installing additional software. The solution supports event logs, self-test schedules, email notifications, SNMP traps, and the setting of custom alarm limits, providing centralized control over the entire UPS system.
Modbus 485 Poll/Slave & Modbus TCP/IP: Industrial-Grade Connectivity
- Modbus RTU (485) : the card can operate as a Poll (master), where in this mode it allows polling of up to 8 external sensors/devices, or as a Slave, making UPS parameters available to, for example, PLC controllers. The modes are switchable and mutually exclusive.
- Flexible configuration : regardless of the mode, the user defines the bandwidth, parity, device address number, function, and in Poll mode indicates the exact register from which the card should retrieve data.
- Modbus TCP/IP protocol : encapsulates RTU frames in Ethernet packets (port 502, which can be changed), enabling remote access to UPS parameters using this protocol where a direct physical connection is not possible. This implementation eliminates the need to run cables to connect end devices using Modbus TCP/IP or those requiring a physical port using a TCP/IP to RTU converter.
SNMPv1 / SNMPv2c / SNMPv3 basic: network management of multiple UPSs.
The card's SNMP agent supports the UPS-MIB (RFC1628) and its own private enterprise implementation (PPC), allowing for extensive control of various parameters, not only of the UPS itself but also of environmental sensors (EMDs) connected by the card user. SNMP TRAP enables automatic (passive) alarm notification in versions 1 and v2c, and a ready-made, simple UPS control set on the website provides simple control commands (10-second test, bypass on/off, and buzzer deactivation). The basic version of v3 provides login and password support.
Importantly, every Armac uninterruptible power supply system is equipped with an overload protection module. If the UPS is overloaded during normal operation, the device will automatically and safely terminate power to connected devices. This solution enhances the safety and user comfort of Armac uninterruptible power supplies.
RFC 1628 UPS-MIB Compliance The
RFC1628 standard defines a single, standardized set of objects (OIDs)—from UPS states, operating parameters, and battery values to alarms and tests—for each UPS. The Armac card supports all valid OIDs of this RFC and extends the default data representation resolution of this MIB to include decimal values (mV, 0.1 Hz, 0.01 °C), facilitating precise load and temperature monitoring without the need for a PPC implementation.
SMTP with SSL, NTP and DNS: Secure Notifications
- MTP (TLS/SSL, STARTTLS) : sending alerts to multiple email accounts (with authorization).
- NTP : automatic clock synchronization, ensuring that SNMP and CSV logs have consistent timestamps from devices in a given organization or system.
- DNS : hostname resolution.
Other technologies and functionalities
- Wake On LAN - ability to remotely turn on the server/PC (if they support this function) after power is restored or the UPS returns from battery operation.
- Task scheduler - cyclic UPS on/off, battery tests, calibrations.
- Configurable alarm thresholds for voltage, temperature, humidity and battery life.
- Remote code execution allows control of any device using SSH or Telnet. No additional software is required, for example, to shut down a server or execute a user-defined script. Using this feature, the SNMP card will execute dedicated commands for a specific event type.
- Event and parameter registration with CSV export option via permanent link.
- Easily update firmware (FW) via web interface.
Why Armac-Energy?
We prioritize reliability, open standards, and simple integration with existing IT and automation infrastructure. The Armac UPS SNMP card is a compatible network management module (NMC) plug-in that allows remote UPS control and monitoring of critical data within a unified management environment, providing access to it via multiple interfaces. It's the ideal solution for installers, administrators, and end users who, in keeping with our mission of "Creating Good Energy," want to combine power protection with intelligent analytics.
